The most significant benefit is that the procedure, which uses a laser to remove gum disease, actually stimulates the bone, reducing bone loss that might make a patient unfit for implants. LANAP also leaves bone and healthy tissue intact, which makes a patient better-suited to receiving implants.

Customers pay a yearly membership, typically between $75 and $200. “The dental plan negotiates the discounts with the dentist, but the dentist gets the full fee, or their payment at the negotiated discounted rate from the consumer at the time of service,” Ireland said. Jenn Stoll is with DentalPlans.com, which lets customers compare the cost of more than 30 different dental savings plans. “Dental savings plans allow people to save on typical procedures, such as cleanings and X-rays, root canals, crowns and even dental implants,” Stoll said.

Dental discount plans offer deep savings

2) Discount dental plans are generally less expensive than traditional dental plans. These are plans that give a discount for services, but your doctor must be part of the plan and agree to give the dental discount. Make sure you understand which dental plan you pick because many can have a 6 month to a 2 year wait or longer for expensive dental procedures such as crowns, implants, etc. John, you also asked about vision benefits including glasses. On page 39 of the Medicare handbook, it talks about Eyeglasses which is a limited benefit because Medicare will cover one pair of eyeglasses with standard frames (or one set of contact lenses) after cataract surgery that implants an intraocular lens.

View Full Size Courtesy Larry Kucharik A shattered glass shower door in the home of Larry Kucharik is shown in these undated photos. The problem occurs with tempered glass, which manufacturers use because of its safety value. However, Mark Meshulam, a window expert, says that pre-existing damage and imperfections are both factors in the doors’ spontaneous shattering. “The number one reason glass doors break is because of some form of damage to the glass around the edges of that door,” Meshulam said. “The number two reason would be through inclusions, microscopic imperfections that grow into a larger crack internally to the pressure layers. Those pressure layers eventually cause the glass to just shatter.” Meshulam says tempered glass is supposed to be safe because “it breaks into millions of little pieces.” Sometimes, those pieces don’t separate quickly enough from previous damage, forming large, sharp, jagged edges that stick together and cause injury.
